Walks from the Barn
Step out of the Barn to experience a variety of rural walks across open fields and farmland, including a circular 2 mile walk that takes you past the picturesque 13th Century church in Compton Beauchamp and back through an avenue of magnificent beech trees.

A number of pubs are within easy walking, the White Horse at Woolstone (2 miles), the Rose and Crown in Ashbury (3 miles) and the King and Queen at Longcot (3.5 miles).

The Barn is a stone's throw from the Ridgeway and some of its most famous sites, the Uffington White Horse and Wayland's Smithy. Walk west towards Avebury, east towards Wantage or south across the Lambourn Downs.

We are happy to help with more information on these and many more walks.

The Ridgeway National Trail
One of 16 National Trails in England & Wales, The Ridgeway extends 87 miles from just outside the World Heritage Site of Avebury in Wiltshire heading north-easterly to Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire.

Known as ‘Britain’s oldest road’, The Ridgeway follows the same route over chalk downlands and wooded hills and valleys used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers.

Now, equally popular with walkers, runners, cyclists, and those on horseback as those simply seeking solitude in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the path can be completed in sections over six days.
Oxford
Culture
Within easy reach of the Cotswolds, explore the picturesque villages of Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. Experience Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Bath and Cirencester, all within an hour's drive in different directions from the Barn.

Closer to home, National Trust gems span the local area, including Ashdown House, Kelmscott Manor and the Badbury, Buscot and Coleshill Estates.
